Suikoden Saga: One of the Finest Console Games for the Playstation

Hi everyone! This is Dave aka Shen from Naruto Cosplayers PH and this is also my first post in this blog.  Hope you like this post.

Suikoden also known as Genso Suikoden is one of the best role-playing games that I experienced.  Imagine collecting 108 characters to complete the 108 stars of destiny and in later parts having multiple endings.  It is the first in the RPG genre to have multiple endings.

Suikoden was first developed in 1995 and is originally created by Yoshitaka Murayama. This video game is partly based on the classical Chinese novel, Shui Hu Zhuan written by Shi Naian and Luo Guanzhong.  The center of all the Suikoden games are the "108 Stars of Destiny".  They are 108 protagonists who each have their own abilities and uses in the games.

As of today, there are 12 Suikoden titles in which 5 of them are from the main series.  All of the game series takes place in one world called Harmonia and are consisting of different characters and histories which actually inter twine with one another.  To make it clear to our readers here is the in-universe chronology:

Suikoden IV (143 years before Suikoden V and 150 years before Suikoden) → Suikoden V (6 years before Suikoden) → Suikoden (3 years before Suikoden II) → Suikoden II (15 years before Suikoden III) → Suikoden III

The game is a turn-based battle wherein the 6-main team faces opponents.  Although there are various other types of battle which consist of  "Basic Battle" as referred above; "One-on-one-Duel", this happens only during special events and is only between two characters; and "Strategic War Battle", which is a turn-based strategic battle between the protagonist's side and the enemy's armies.  During the war battle you can arrange your armies into formations.

Here is a sample "Suikoden Strategic War Battle":

I have only played Suikoden I and Suikoden II and both of them are my favorites.  It had been a daily routine for me during those times to always keep on playing.  I think about 4-5 hours a day in our computer shop just to finish the game.  Viktor and Flik are my favorite characters.  As for the villains, I would say that Luca Blight is one of the greatest villains in RPG history.

Here is the final battle scene with Luca Blight in Suikoden II.
